In the municipality of Arraiolos as it was instituted the Local Democratic Power, the municipal action for Education suffered a substantial increase in the condition improvement in all the school of this municipality: through the creation of the Igrejinha, Sabugueiro and S. Pedro da Gafanhoeira kindergartens, the signing of a protocol with the Education Ministry to the Itinerant Preschool Program which is still operating in the localities of Santana do Campo e Vale do Pereiro.

Without prejudice to the desirable coordination whether it is at the regional or national level as new competence transference, and to a qualified intervention according to the demanding complexity of the political issues we’re dealing with, some measures have been taken:

- Creation of the Municipal Education Council

- Integration of the Education Chart in the PDM

- Construction of the School Park of Arraiolos

- Equipping and maintenance of the Elementary School buildings

- School Transports

- Canteen Administration (Preschool and Elementary School)

- School Social Work

- Development of educational complementary activities

- Support to the students’ works

The Town Hall has taken some important measures to promote equal opportunities and minimize inwardness, namely

-  Phone installation in all kinder-gardens and Elementary Schools

-  Installation in all Elementary Schools in our municipality, in the school year 1998/1999, of a multimedia computer with a printer (equipment periodically updated and renewed)

-  Adhesion to the program Internet at School by the Science and Technology Ministry and the National Association of  City Councils, granting the connection of all schools to the internet.

In the ambit of school social work the autarchy has been trying to solve the lack of canteens celebrating some agreements with local institutions and attributing the subsidies predicted for this area.  

The construction of the new School Park of Arraiolos will create a new public kinder-garden, as well as better conditions to the students of the Elementary Schools and, at the same time, a resource bettering.

The project includes eight Elementary School rooms, four kinder-garden rooms, a polyvalent room and a support canteen.
